Loose Bruce Kerr's poem/lyric about his hometown of Waukesha, Wisconsin
“YOU CAME FROM WAUKESHA”
by Loose Bruce Kerr
1. If you wanted water pure
Or a grand resort to tour
YOU CAME TO WAUKESHA
For a motor running true
Or a generator new
YOU CAME TO WAUKESHA
Want a hazy, lazy river
Or somebody to deliver
all your dairy and a paper to your door?
You could do worse by far
Than turning ‘round your car
and instead, YOU CAME TO WAUKESHA
2. For the yellows, reds and
greens
Of the Kettle Morraine scenes
YOU CAME TO WAUKESHA
Best in sports and all the schools
The best neighborhoods and pools
YOU CAME TO WAUKESHA
Ask any stranger on the street
‘twas the path to surely beat
If you just follow your feet
you end up there
For a job or Carroll College
If you had or needed knowledge
then at last, YOU CAME TO WAUKESHA
3. If you had your head on
straight
Had the finest girls to date
YOU CAME FROM WAUKESHA
If your parents loved you so
And were sad to let you go
YOU LEFT FROM WAUKESHA
Need some help from helping
hands
Or some kickass local bands
or some Jimmy’s, Scrima’s, Rode’s, Schley’s and more
Take a mudbath or decline
Know...the...name...of..."Rheiney Hein”*
Then it’s your hometown and mine
YOU CAME FROM WAUKESHA
